A deathtrap ongoing building collapses opposite Federal Polytechnic Oko Permsite:

It was a tragic Sunday as an ongoing building belonging to an anonymous person got collapsed with yet to be ascertained number of persons trapped underneath. The NEMA responded as quick as they could just this morning to make sure that the trapped workers are exhumed alive. The Digital Rector of the polytechnic responded with his Management team as earlier as usual to make sure that the collapsed building and its surroundings are cordoned off students to avoid future mishaps. The Rector blamed the collapsed building on inferior materials and berated the building contractors for putting up such gigantic 3-4Storey structure without a solid foundation. While thanking God that non of his students was affected, he directed that all students whose hostels are close to the failed building be given a tentative accommodation inside the school hostels pending when the Anambra materials testing Laboratory satisfies the fitness of occupancy of the surrounding hostels. He also engaged the Anambra State Laboratory test staff to quickly start testing other hostels susceptible to cracks within and outside the school. The Governor,Chief Willie Obiano who later joined the Rector in the site, thanked God that no life was lost as at the time of filling this report. He however called on all the agencies involved in such incidences to get to work and make sure that the Engineer and the building principal be brought to book if found culpable in poor material management.
