LASU VC warns against sale of handouts:

The Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Prof. Lanre Fagbohun, has warned lecturers in the university not to engage in the sales of substandard lecture publications and materials to students.
Any lecturer caught in the act, Fagbohun said, would face the consequences.
Fagbohun gave the warning at the second Faculty of Arts lecture held at the Ojo campus of the university.
Fagbohun said, “Those who are desecrating our institutions must stop. We will not allow the exploitation of our students with shady, substandard and unmeritorious materials. Self-publication of materials that are below standard will henceforth not be allowed.”The VC stated that he planned to inaugurate a Quality Assurance Committee to access all submitted materials for publication against set benchmarks.
The move, he said, was to ensure the publication of standard materials from the university.
He added, “We will encourage whistle-blowing and we will protect whistle- blowers. If you package shady materials and sell to our students, we will know and we will show up.”
Delivering the lecture entitled, “Vote my wish or perish in the Lagoon: Identity Politics and the Igbo Factor in the 2015 Governorship Elections in Lagos State,” the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. Abolade Adeniji, canvassed tolerance and mutual respect among ethnic groups in the country.
